Rhys Darby is Going to Be on X-Files

Kiwi actor and comedian Rhys Darby has landed a role on the upcoming X-Files miniseries.

Darby is flying to Vancouver today to begin work on the show.

News of the X-Files’ return was announced back in March, series creator Chris Carter reviving the show for a 6-episode run.

The original series ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, with two feature films following.

Details have been shrouded in mystery, but Darby will join regulars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson who have returned for the miniseries.

He will star in one of the six episodes set to premiere on January 24, 2016.

X-Files Fanboy David Farrier is Very Excited About This News

This could not be more exciting to me.

Darby has long had a fascination with the weird and wonderful, from strange creatures to UFOs (full disclosure: I co-host a cryptozoology podcast with Darby called The Cryptid Factor, often incorporating those topics into his writing, standup, TV and Twitter

How he’ll fit into the show is still a mystery, but with an episode called “Home Again”, a possible sequel to an X-Files fan favourite, the anticipation is already a killer.
